A Brief History Of Burma And A Travel Guide

Burma is a Southeast Asian country that has a rich history and culture. Apart from this, the country has some stunning places which attract people from all around the world. Burma is more commonly knows as Mayanmar and is located on the Bay of Bengal. The country is a neighbor to India and Bangladesh, and people from both countries frequently visit Burma because of its beauty.

History Of Burma

Burma is not a very large country but is surely a country with a very rich history. The country has had a fair share of invaders as well as settlers. The current majority of the country’s population is said to have migrated from Tibet, while some of the population is said to have migrated from India.

Burma has seen good times as well as bad. There was a time when Burma was expanding a lot during the Indian conquest, but when China started to attack the country and internal conflicts started to rise, the country’s size decreased.

British Rule

Like most other countries, Britain was also taken over by the British and made a province of India by them. It functioned that way for a long time, but in 1937 it was made a separate colony. The Burmese people were in support of the Japanese support because they wanted freedom from the Britishers, and the Japanese had promised them that they would help them get freedom. But little did they know that the Japanese had very little intention of doing that. When the Japanese took over Burma, many people lost their lives, and the country saw terrible times. SO the people decided to give the country back to the Britishers and win it back.

In the year 1948, Burma finally gained independence from the Britishers and became the Union of Burma. After a lot of struggle, the country finally gained its freedom, but they lost many lives and resources in the process.

After gaining independence, Burma finally had its first general elections in 1960, but the peace and harmony were not very long-lived. As in 1962, Ne Win declared himself the leader of the country. Things were not very favorable for the country for a long time, but finally, in 2015, the country had fair elections and got a new government. The things are better for the country now, which are helping the country develop. This has also resulted in a boost in tourism.

Due to the country’s recent brutal history, many people believed that the country is not safe to be visited. This is not true at all as most of the country’s parts are entirely safe and are completely under the control of the country and its government. People from all around the world can visit the country safely. The misconception is getting erased from the people’s mind slowly and gradually, and as a result, tourism in the country is increasing.

Visiting all the monuments is a great experience because all of these are stunning but what is even better is to take an aerial view of the place in a hot air balloon.
